The Tisbury Police Department is charged with the task of granting, issuing and maintaining local firearms licenses. Ultimately the granting authority is the Chief of Police in the Town which the applicant resides. Once an applicant has completed all the requirements, the Tisbury Police Department will conduct an extensive background investigation to determine the applicant has met the criteria.

The Tisbury Police Department then forwards the license request to the Massachusetts Firearms Record Bureau for a final consideration.
