HELP US SOLVE CRIMES

The Tisbury Police Department wants to be proactive and increase our chances of solving crimes by asking for your assistance. Many residents and businesses are now utilizing surveillance cameras and these cameras may capture persons and events without the owner’s knowledge and this captured information may help the police department solve crimes and help keep Tisbury safe.

In order to take advantage of this fact the Tisbury Police Department is asking residents and businesses around the community to register their privately-owned surveillance camera systems. As our officers respond to reports of criminal activity in our community, they may be able to use the information or footage captured on these security cameras to assist in the apprehension and prosecution of the criminals involved.

By registering your camera system with the Tisbury Police Department, officers and detectives will be able to identify what cameras may have captured criminal activity.  You would only be contacted by the Tisbury Police Department if there is an incident within the vicinity of your camera system and officers or detectives may request to view the footage in order to assist in the investigation.  Any type of camera system, such as Ring, SimpliSafe, Nest, hard wired or wireless systems, would be accepted.

You will not be asked to act as an agent of the Tisbury Police Department and we will not ask permission to use your cameras to constantly surveil the area.

The Tisbury Police Department respects your privacy. Any personal information you provide to us including your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address will not be released, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals outside of the Town of Tisbury.
